While the term “Mercury Retrograde” strikes fear into the hearts of many, it’s really nothing to worry about if you know how to use the energy to your benefit.
While it’s true electronics and associated forms of communication may give you a problem during this time, just be patient and have a back-up plan until things get sorted out. If e-mails won’t go through, try texting or a good, old-fashioned phone call. Talking face to face is always a good idea, too! Whether it’s e-mail, text or actual conversation, be sure you pay attention to what the other is saying, as misunderstandings tend to happen during this time. If written communication can be taken two ways, be sure you clarify with the sender before reacting! This is actually good practice all the time, not just during Mercury Retrograde, so if you make it a habit you’ll never have to worry.
This generally isn’t a good time for starting something new or signing new contracts, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done successfully. With contracts, be sure to take your time and read them thoroughly. Ask questions if something isn’t perfectly clear. And, as always, think carefully about what the contract is binding you to and make sure it’s what you really want! Your inner guidance is always a good source to turn to any time, and especially during retrograde. If something doesn’t feel quite right, hold off on the decision until you have time to think further and even meditate on it. Talk it over with others if you can and get their input. Take everything into consideration and follow your gut feelings before making that final decision. If it’s something that can’t wait, then just be absolutely sure you have all the facts and do what feels right to you.
The same holds true for starting new projects. If you can’t put it off, then just take your time and don’t rush it. Things may seem to get in the way or hold you back, but if you deal with them as they come up and let them work themselves out you’ll be able to move forward. Patience is important during Mercury Retrograde, as hard as that may be for you. Remember, it’s only temporary!
Everyone focuses on the negative aspects of Mercury Retrograde, and what not to do, but there are things that are best done during this time. Like tying up loose ends or finishing up old projects that you’ve already started and left incomplete. It’s a good time to clear out clutter, whether you clean out your closets or clear the clutter in your life. Simplicity is a good thing and now is the time to bring it into your life. Most of all, Mercury Retrograde is the perfect time to slow down, take inventory and clear out the old to make room for the new when Mercury goes direct again. Relax and enjoy the much needed break!
